A Decade of Love.
All birthdays are special, but milestone birthdays remind us of the passage of time. As a parent, when your child hits double digits, it might feel like the last chance to celebrate her childhood as you know it. Turning 10 is about finding that middle ground between childhood and the race to grow up. About a month before our daughter Ava’s birthday, we sent out digital invites from Minted.com to friends and family.
Our daughter chose a modern princess theme to celebrate her 10th birthday and requested that she and her guests be chauffeured around in a limousine. Ava loves walking the mall, and wanted to spend her special day browsing the aisles of The Bellevue Collection. We decided to host her milestone celebration at Cafe Trophy, which is one of our favorite lunch spots on the Eastside at The Bravern. My team and I arrived early to style the space, while my husband escorted Ava and her friends around the mall. With the help of the Trophy team, I coordinated the menu and complementing treats. Together as a family we created an “All About Ava” questionnaire game, and guests also enjoyed decorating their own cupcakes, which doubled as party favors. My friend Jennifer Shea, the owner of Trophy Cupcakes, even honored our birthday girl by naming a cupcake inspired by her party, called the “Ava.” We served rosé to the adults and rose lemonade to the kids before lighting the sparklers on the custom cake. We sang Happy Birthday and reveled in our traditional confetti toss to conclude the afternoon. A good time was had by all, and that evening, we hosted a slumber party at our home for Ava and her cousins. At the end of the weekend, I was proud to say I was officially the mother of a tween! And her party was special and memorable. Check out the October issue of @425magazine to see how I whipped together my little girl's 10th birthday party @cafetrophy.
