SEATTLE GOODWILL + GOSSIP & GLAMOUR

We teamed up with Seattle Goodwill and Gossip & Glamour to host a fun evening of crafts, catering and creatives. The Riveter Fremont held this event, No Bones Beach Club served a delicious array of vegan delights, Tiffany Lynn Troiano transformed attendees into the creepy cute characters using her makeup skills, and I showcase a fabulous festive Fall-styled tablescape using sourced props and items from my local Goodwill and created fun DIY Halloween mask materials from there as well.

Seattle Style Summit

I enjoyed sharing our experience on how to successfully launch a second concept beyond the blog at the 2017 Seattle Style Summit. Our friend, Sydney Mintle of Gossip & Glamour, hosted and moderated the event at the Thompson Hotel. My panel included leaders in fashion and lifestyle industry, author and boutique owner, Moorea Seal, Jenny Keller of Jenny Cookies, Tiffany Ishiguro of T+J Designs, and me, the founder of Marabou Design.

Van's General Store x Minted

Thank you @minted & @lievschreiber for organizing this campaign with Van's General Store NY. We are honored to be apart of this wonderful charity benefiting RxArt, a nonprofit whose mission is to help children heal through the power of visual art. We love food & art so this challenge was perfect for us! We were asked to showcase the "What's on your plate for lunch?" challenge. I whipped up a yummy meal of avocado toast for my family on a lazy Sunday. Follow along to view the other creative categories via #Minted50!

CAFE TROPHY WORKSHOP

We partnered with Cafe Trophy to host a delightful afternoon of learning the art of modern calligraphy. If you haven't had a chance to visit Trophy Cupcakes latest cafe in the Bravern, you are missing out! A bakery, bar and market all rolled into one. Serving the sweetest, most amazing confections on the Eastside. Our friend, Jennifer has out done herself! Julie, of Julie Harmsen Photography captured our event beautifully, while I encouraged and instructed guest to explore their visual vocabulary through example and method practice.

Our friends walked away from this workshop with a better understanding of how to compose with a sharper eye when working with typography and a deeper knowledge of their own personal style.

SMooCH: Seattle Musicians for Children’s Hospital 2016

SMooCH (Seattle Musicians for Children’s Hospital) is back for its 6th year and rocked the Showbox. This year’s stellar lineup includes Father John Misty, J Mascis and special guests, and Naked Giants &The New Pornographers!

This year, we joined the SMooCH guild for Seattle Children's Hospital and took part in raising awareness and selling VIP tickets to bid on amazing silent auction items in support of uncompensated care for our local children & families. The best part, one of my childhood friend's family was sponsored and shared their harrowing story and their struggle with healthcare affordability for their daughter, Mckinley. 

100% of all event proceeds will go to benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital.

We enjoyed a unique food and wine experience featuring guest chef Ethan Stowell along with other local chefs. As well as, Mark McNeilly of Mark Ryan Winery and Trey Busch from Sleight of Hand Cellars will be pouring their esteemed wines during our VIP experience.

Farewell, Mr. President

Dear President Obama, 

I will never forget the feeling of hope and potential for progress when you were sworn into office in 2008. I took this photo of our daughter on the White House lawn in 2011, and remember the feeling of pride as I told her the first African-American president lives there! In history, you may be known as the 44th president, but you will always be the 1st for many. My family and I are so thankful to have shared these past 8 years with you and your beautiful family. Words can never express how much your integrity, humanity and elegance has meant to us throughout your presidency. No one is perfect, but your ability to get things done in the face of outright bias and covert racism from men & women who would rather you fail than America succeed, showed your grace and commitment to service. There are so many things I’m going to miss about you, Mr. Obama. You may not have made everyone happy, but you certainly tried. The effort of your achievements created a lasting legacy for many generations to come and we will be forever grateful.
